Mold Removal in Watertown Two Family Basements
A wet Watertown basement is nearly always rainwater rather than river water: all three of the town's paid flood claims came from rainfall or snowmelt accumulation outside the mapped flood zone. That is worth knowing, because rainwater has a route you can follow and a fix you can price.

The Charles River Watershed Association's Charles River Flood Model covers a 273 square mile area and 20 cities and towns, and projects that by 2070 a 10-year storm will flood about 1,400 more acres than today, 11,800 acres against 10,400, with close to 2,000 additional acres for the 100-year event. The association identifies Needham, Newton, Wellesley, Waltham and Watertown as the towns with more urban infrastructure that would be most affected in a 100-year storm.

A shared basement means two households agree before work starts
Watertown has the highest share of two-unit houses in this coverage area at 34.7 percent, and in a two-family the basement is usually shared, so the water source, the drying and the bill all split between two households before anything starts. Agreeing that in writing early is the difference between a one-week job and a stalled one. The town also sits on a hinge in the river: the Charles River Basin is defined as running from the Watertown Dam down to the Charles River Dam, so river level is free-flowing above the dam and managed below it, and a basement close to the water behaves accordingly. For the severe case the Charles River Watershed Association's flood model names Watertown among the urban towns most affected in a 100-year storm, which is a reason to finish a shared basement carefully rather than a reason to panic.
